Celebrating National Waste Awareness Day, Cinema XXI Hosts Organic Waste Management Workshop

Strengthening its commitment to environmental sustainability, Cinema XXI organized an Ecological Footprint Workshop guided by Jessica Halim, Co-Founder of Demibumi. The initiative aimed to equip the internal team with practical knowledge on sorting and processing organic waste, applicable both within cinema outlets and in their daily lives. The event also commemorated National Waste Awareness Day, observed annually on February 21.

“The participants' enthusiasm was outstanding. We hope the knowledge gained today can be widely shared with the broader Indonesian community and inspire other companies to take similar actions,” said Jessica.

Held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, the workshop was attended by over 90 Cinema XXI employees from various departments, including F&B and Operations. The sessions covered essential topics, ranging from the importance of waste segregation and processing to hands-on practice in creating eco-enzymes from fruit waste.

“I want to encourage all of us to manage our waste actively, rather than simply discarding it. Organic waste, in particular, can be processed effectively into something highly beneficial,” stated Dody Suhartono, Director of Cinema XXI.

Ricky Samsoedin, Head of Cinema Operations, added that the Ecological Footprint Workshop marks an initial step for Cinema XXI to continue educating, raising awareness, and implementing tangible actions on waste management for all employees moving forward.
